Nyle Zachary Farmer

Our little bundle decided to make his debut early Friday morning!  He weighed in at a decent 7lbs 4oz, and was 20.5" long.   Here are some of his first pictures:

The Nursery

So we're 99.9% sure his name will be Nyle Zachary Farmer and he'll go by Zach! Nyle is Brandon's first name which is also his father's name and he is the oldest son. Brandon wanted to carry on the tradition with our oldest son too! I made these using paper mache letters I found at Joann's, along with some paper, ribbon, and just regular glue thinned with water to use as modge podge. It was a fun project and I think it turned out cute!

The nursery is suppose to have an aviation theme to it, but it's hard to find airplane stuff that matches my colors so it's a work in progress!

Terri and Rose Ellen helped me make a couple of Taggies when I was home for Christmas and I just love them! This is one of them hanging on the side of the crib. It's a small piece of fabric with fun ribbons on all four sides. Babies love these and they are the perfect size to carry around!

Here is the gorgeous crib my parents bought us! They are starting a tradition of buying each child a crib to use for their family and we are the lucky first! The nice thing about this one is that is can convert to a todler bed and later on a double if needed.

This glider was a splurge no doubt, but well worth the money in my opinion! I haven't used it yet, but I'm sure those AM feedings well be nice in this comfy glider! I chose a white slip cover because it's easy to bleach when stains appear. I also think as we have more kids it will go with any color or decor!

Here is a memory board I made. So far it's decorated with cards from my showers but hopefully soon we will start filling it with fun pictures!

I love this! They call this a paper chandelier! I think this piece inspired the whole room!

This dresser doubles as a changing station and storage. I used some of that rubber drawer liner to protect the top and keep the changing pad from slipping off. The picture frames will of course soon have pictures of the little guy! The wooden propeller is from WWII and is pretty cool. Brandon loves aviation and is also going to make a model airplane to hang in the room.

Taylor and Shandra really out did themselves with the food! We had a fruit tray with yogurt dip, a veggie tray with ranch dip, chips and spinach artichoke dip, a spinach salad with strawberries, blackberries, almonds, and poppy seed dressing, vanilla cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, peanut butter bars, chocolate chip cookies, and Taylor's famous pigs in a blanket!

Shandra made these super cute favors!!! They're like peanut butter bars but better with rice crispies and butterscotch chips.  Brandon's family calls them O' Henry's. One of my neighbors took one home and her husband tasted it and loved it so much he pleaded for Brandon to find out the recipe!

My cousin Mindy made this incredible diaper cake, I couldn't even guess how long it took her to make but I know it  was long! Each diaper was individually rolled and tied and she even cut out the base and covered it with a swaddling blanket. The ribbon for each layer was nicely kept in place with pins and there were so many fun little items tucked in everywhere! I wish you could all the sides, it really was a cool gift!

I had a wonderful baby shower on January 21st! So many wonderful friends, family, and ward members came and showered me with love and awesome gifts! My incredible friend and co-worker, Shandra, and my sweet sister ,Taylor, put a lot of time, energy, and money into throwing a very special and enjoyable shower! The decorations, food, and favors were such a hit! I took a few pictures before everyone arrived but once everything got going I didn't get a chance to take pictures with people! I am so grateful for every one's thoughtfulness and generosity, I seriously feel very blessed! 
     When I was home for Christmas I had a small family shower with my mom, sister, grandma, mother in law, and sisters in law. My good friend, Chelsea, also came and everyone gave me some really nice things. Then, a few weeks ago, my office threw me a shower too! Again, such wonderful, thoughtful gifts! I really appreciate everything! This baby is going to be fully outfitted for a long time! 

39 Weeks and Counting

     39 weeks and counting! You probably noticed this picture is smaller- that is for a reason. That reason is that I woke up yesterday with a horrible chest cold and I've been feeling pretty miserable- hence the no makeup/pajama look! I even went to work today! Today was my official last day of work for 3 months so hopefully I will be able to recoup before the baby gets here and he won't put my horrible smoker's voice in his memory of what his mother's voice sounds like! I think a few of my patients thought I was the walking plague, but I made it through. 
     The last few weeks have been pretty good. This last Tuesday my doctor said I was dilated to a 1 1/2, almost a 2, and 50% effaced. I feel like I've been having some contractions, also know as Braxton Hicks, but they mostly feel like really bad menstrual cramps. My due date is next Sunday February 19th and if he is not here by then I will be induced a week and one day later on February 27th. The funny thing is my birthday is March 27th! 
     I'm really starting to feel big!!! I've pretty much gotten use to not having a bladder but feeling the baby move and kick makes it worth it! He is quite active in the evening, especially after I eat! His feet are in my upper right with his bum on the left! He gets the hiccups quite often and I sort of feel bad for him because I hate it when I have the hiccups! I'm really excited to meet him and hold him!
     Brandon and I took a 4 week prenatal class for first time parents at the hospital in January. The class was taught by a labor and delivery nurse who was really nice and funny! It was really informative and helped relieve some of my nervousness and anxiety! I feel like we have everything ready to go, we just need the baby! All the baby clothes are washed and put away, the car seat base and protector pad is installed, my hospital bag is packed, and the nursery is put together and stocked thanks to everyone! I've even sterilized the pacifiers I will be taking to the hospital using my new bottle sterilizer from Terri! I've read all the instructions manuals for my car seat, stroller, digital monitor, breast pump, bottle warmer, bottle sterilizer, and wipe warmer! I figure, if I can be prepared for most everything (minus the baby), I won't go completely crazy!
