What is better than a great guy? A great guy who cooks!!! Brandon cooked a wonderful dinner last night and even picked out the recipe himself! He cooked orange-cranberry pork chops with wild grain rice, steamed broccoli, and raspberry italian sodas! It was very delicious and it was nice to be able relax and read my Real Simple magazine. As things have settled down since the wedding and moving we have really enjoyed trying out new recipes and going out on a limb. Don't get me wrong most nights are quick and easy dishes with take-out substituting a few dinners but we try to fix something nice a couple of nights during the week. For my birthday Brandon bought me a nice Kitchen Aid mixer which I am loving! Here is the pork chop recipe in case you want to give it a try- enjoy!

Cranberry-Orange Pork Chops
6 pork chops
1 1/2 T. butter
1 1/2 T. Oil (he used olive oil)
1 c. cranberriesjuice of one orange
salt and pepper to taste
1/4 c. brown sugar, packed
1 T. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. water
Garnish: orange slices

Place pork chops in a skillet with butter and oil. Brown on both sides; drain drippings and discard.Stir in cranberries, orange juice, salt, pepper and brown sugar. Simmer, covered, for one hour. Blend together flour and water and pour in skillet. Cook, stirring often, until thickened. Pour over pork chops and garnish with orange slices. Serves 4-6.
